People have always told me how beautiful my eyes were. Growing up, I thought that they were just saying it to avoid having to say how large my nose and ears were. But now that I am older and somewhat wiser (when I’m not out killing brain cells), I realize that my eyes ARE in fact one of my best features, and that any enhancement I can give them will help when stalking my prey (aka, my future tall, handsome, hysterically funny, rich husband).
I have always been curious about eyelash extensions, so when Eye Love Beauty in Delray Beach invited me in, I had no hesitations! I was greeted by Sonya, who right away had this great, bubbly personality and energy. I had known her for seconds and felt we had been friends for years. Which was great considering we were about to spend the next 2 hours together!
Sonya led me to her super chic beauty room and began to describe how the process is done. Each lash extension is individually glued on with medical-grade adhesive (and not all salons use this high end adhesive like Eye Love Beauty does). It is insanely important to have a trusted, well-reviewed lash expert. I mean, you wouldn’t trust just any lady doctor, right?? Well your eyes are just as, if not more important than your coochie-coo, so do your homework, or you could end up with serious issues from the glue and improper application (spoiler alert, Sonya is DEFINITELY someone you can trust your eyes with!). The process is not painful, but a bit painfully long – 2 conscious hours without being able to see, move use my cell phone, or talk. Torture for me, but heaven for my roommate who spends his days trying to get me to shut up so he can work. The things we do for beauty!
“Before”
In every sense of the word, Sonya made me comfortable. With her friendly personality of course, but also she makes sure that those 2 hours are as enjoyable as possible for someone just laying there like a vegetable. She gave me a blanket and propped up my head, feet, knees and back with pillows. You’d think that two hours of laying down doesn’t sound so bad, but trust me, if you’re not moving one inch, you may get antsy. I HIGHLY recommend going in after a few glasses of wine (or whatever your vice is, I don’t judge) to knock you right out – Sonya’s goal, other than giving you gorgeous lashes, is to give you a relaxing experience and make you fall right to sleep! I’m the kind of lazy sloth that can fall asleep on a hardwood floor or to the sound of screaming banshees, so as soon as I closed my eyes and Sonya put on relaxing music, I was out like sauerkraut. I woke up with probably 30-45 minutes to go, and when I started getting restless, Sonya noticed right away and was there to rearrange pillows. While I was awake, I got to notice more how the procedure is done. It’s completely pain-free, and basically it just feels like someone brushing your lashes over and over again. Quite luxurious!
“After”
When I opened my eyes and looked in the mirror, I was completely shocked. My eyes had gone from “doe eyes” to “those eye doe!!” I had gorgeous, beautiful, dramatic lashes! Now for some of you, they may be a little dramatic, but for me, it not only fits my personality, it IS my personality. But that’s the beauty of Eye Love Beauty – you can go as dramatic as you want, or simply get the procedure to compensate for losing lashes or having short or thin lashes – it’s up to you!
