Anyone who knows me knows that I work out like a fiend, truthfully only so that I can continue to eat as much as I do (the sacrifices of a food blogger… you’re welcome.). So I live in a constant state of dehydration, because try as I might, I can’t make myself enjoy drinking gallons of water as much as I enjoy eating buckets of French fries. The dehydration that sets in every day causes me to feel overly exhausted, as well as having effects on my skin, making it dry and dull – which as a fashion/beauty blogger, just will not fly.
So I was psyched when I heard about IV2You, a company that provides IV hydration and nutrient therapies to clients – and get this, it’s right in the comfort of your own homes! So you’re telling me that I can get my body re-nutriented and re-hydrated and feeling super amazing, all while watching a DVR of The Bachelor? Combine this with a food delivery service and you might have just made every last one of my dreams come true.
The day of my appointment, I received a call from Dr. Lena Edwards, the medical director of IV2You. She went over the procedure, and asked the typical medical questions – what medication I’m on, if I have any allergies, etc. – and also explained to me each of the procedures available. There’s the Energize therapy, the Hydrate therapy, and the Revive therapy, which cures hangovers. So if you’ve got a martini by your side, have another sip, because IV2Youwill bring you back to life in the AM! There’s also Eradicate therapy, which is used if you feel an illness coming on, High Poten-C therapy to boost one’s immune system, Destress therapy, Refuel therapy, Detoxify therapy, Beautify therapy (help with skin and wrinkles) and Glutathione therapy, which is used to help with low energy, muscle and joint pain, mental focus and clarity, improved athletic performance, and improved skin.
I chose the Energize therapy at Dr. Lena’s recommendation upon telling her the types of results I was looking for. I have a bad reaction when I drink caffeine, so I made sure that the treatment wouldn’t have me bouncing off the walls, or at least not more than I normally am.
A few hours later, Claudia, one of the technicians, arrived with my fluids (well that sounds awkward.) And then it came time for the fun – needles! Honestly, I’m not bad with needles, but I’m not great. I have very tiny veins in my arms, so Claudia ended up putting the needle in my hand. It doesn’t feel any different than getting a blood test, so if you’re worried about it hurting, don’t be a baby! The results are more than worth it!
The whole procedure lasted about 10 mins, which depending on how quickly your IV drains, can be more or less. Claudia, a fellow northeasterner, was great to talk to and we entertained each other with stories while we were waiting for the IV to drain and for me to emerge a pure picture of perfect health. Minus the French fry obsession.
No one should expect to feel the results right away, but about an hour after, I noticed that my head and body started to feel clearer than usual. I walk around a lot of the time feeling dizzy or drowsy, and all of that felt lifted. It’s not the easiest feeling to describe, but I felt so rejuvenated in a way that just drinking water and eating healthy could not do for me. It was like a fog had been lifted, not just from my mind, but my whole body.
You might think that IV Therapy is not for you, as it definitely has its preconceived notions. But at the end of the day, it’s a way to supply vitamins directly to your body in order to get results that you wouldn’t normally see from taking vitamins normally. I mean, Flintsontes dailies NEVER made me feel like this.
