Just Like Ryan Gosling, The Waterstone Resort & Marina Is More Than Just A Pretty View

Food & People

There aren’t many things that EVERYONE agrees on, but if there are two things that are certain in this world, it’s that Katy Perry is having the worst identity crisis of the century, and that vacation is truly an amazing feeling. That feeling of walking in to a gorgeous setting, and taking a big, deep breath, knowing the next few days will be filled with unmatchable views, over-the-top good food, plenty of drinks, and no worries. That’s the exact feeling that walking in to the Waterstone Resort & Marina gives you. The moment you set foot in to the gorgeously decorated lobby, you know you are about to experience something special.

I was invited in along with other bloggers and media to dine at Boca Landing, the upscale-casual restaurant inside the hotel, where we were treated to a welcome mojito (because NOTHING says tropical getaway like an ice cold, refreshing mojito!). Unfortunately, on this day the wind was blowing harder than Tony Romo during a playoff game, and it was too much to be able to enjoy the beverages outside. But for those who do get to experience the Waterstone during better weather, you are in for a treat!! The perfect view of the intracoastal in my opinion is the best background to escape too. I personally love to watch boats go by and pick out which one I’m going to obtain from a future divorce settlement. #goals

We moved locations from the restaurant bar to the private dining room which is encased in glass and felt very fancy! And I love feeling fancy because normally my definition of first class treatment is receiving extra BBQ sauce at the McDonald’s drive thru. We were served a plate that highlighted three of the best dishes. What you’re currently drooling at above is the Mango Mustard Glazed Salmon, served atop cilantro infused rice and finished off with a papaya salsa. That is A TON of flavors for one dish. Unlike rap collaborations these days where there’s too many MCs on the track to remember, this menagerie of tastes worked perfectly well together to create a refreshing, tangy bite.

One of my personal weaknesses are arepas. If you haven’t lived in Florida, you may not have discovered the cheesy carbolicious joy that is an arepa, and I highly recommend that you indulge ASAP. It’s like if movie popcorn had a love child with Wisconsin cheese curds. And Waterstone does it so well, you’ll question, “is this real life??”. They have a few different recipes, and I sampled the one with shredded roasted chicken, cojita cheese, pico de gallo and crema. Missing out on this dish would be like ignoring an invitation to a pool party at Cristiano Ronaldo’s house. (you would.)

A perfectly cooked steak is just like a true gentleman in this day and age – completely rare, but totally treasured. Boca Landing might not guarantee the former, but trust that any piece of red meat that you order won’t let you down. We were treated to the Butcher’s Steak Sandwich, a char grilled hanger steak with caramelized onions and Manchego cheese. Putting my favorite type of cheese on an expertly cooked steak is so great, it’s more exciting than the feeling of hearing the words “Clearance Sale.”

Unlike an episode of Homeland, this dessert needs no explanation. 6 layers of chocolate heaven. Anyone who says size doesn’t matter is lying. Look at this thing!!

I mean, it’s the size of my head! We all know chocolate cures all, and good chocolate like this – I’m pretty sure we’ve solved world peace, people.

Good food? Check. Refreshing drinks? Check. Beautiful scenery? Double check. Whether you’re a Florida resident or just a lucky visitor, this is one place you won’t want to miss. And if you can’t finish the cake, I’m on chocolate call 24/7.

***I received complimentary noms in exchange for this post, however, you cannot bribe me with food, so all opinions are my own.
